Graydar, Constitution and Mission Impazable

Graydar, Constitution and Mission Impazable

Size: 24 x 30

This was painted for Randy and Kim Gullatt of Twin Creeks Farm.  It was a homage to their three stallions at stud, but painted in the fashion of an old Richard Stone Reeves painting called Three Kings, which was painted at Claiborne Farm and featured three of their great stallions Secretariat, NijinskyII, and Spectacular Bid. With that painting in mind, we crafted this painting featuring Graydar (held by Steve Davis a Twin Creeks partner), Constitution (held by Randy), and Mission Impazable (held by Kim).

Randy and Kim have great senses of humor and the various titles we have thrown around for this piece are much, much better than Three Kings . . .but I'm partial to "Five Studs and Filly."

Premium Tap

Owner: Klein, Whelihan, Alivezos

Trainer: John Kimmel

Accomplishments: career earnings over $2.5 million

Sire: Pleasant Tap

Dam: Premium Red by Thirty Six Red

Type of Painting: Head Portrait

Premium Tap is a horse that I could share many stories about as I have become great friends with one of his former owners, Dave Whelihan.  It's worth buying the book, A Brush With Greatness, if for not other reason just to read Dave's quote about this horse and the strange journey Premium Tap would take them on.

I painted so head shots more than 30 years ago, that I don't find enough challenge in them anymore, but Dave insisted I do this one for him. I remember trying to talk him out of it, because Premium Tap was just a brown horse and no markings . . Dave won, I painted the head shot and I have to admit this painting has become almost a logo for Robert Clark Artist. Thanks, Dave, you sure know how to pick 'em!
