2009 Breeders' Futurity Winner

Noble's Promise was a tough and hardy colt who won at the highest level as a two year old and stayed in the game for years afterward. He was foaled in 2007 and trained by Kenny McPeek. He was bred by Charles Kidder and his son Ben, with Dr. Nancy Cole, a small partnership of Kentucky horsemen who hit the racing jackpot. His sire was Cuvee, a graded stakes winning son of Carson City, and his dam was The Devil's Trick, a daughter of Clever Trick.

Noble's Promise burst onto the scene as a two year old in 2009. The signature win came in the 2009 Breeders Futurity Stakes at Keeneland, where he went off as a 12 to 1 longshot and powered home in 1:43.12 to win the Grade 1 race. The win gave him an automatic berth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita that fall, where he ran a brave third behind Lookin At Lucky and Vale of York after taking the lead on the far turn. The effort placed him among the top juveniles of his year.

He stayed on the Triple Crown trail in 2010 but never quite cracked the very top tier of three year olds. He ran in the 2010 Kentucky Derby and finished fifth behind Super Saver, a respectable effort in a tough field. He continued to run in stakes company through the rest of his three year old year and added more strong efforts as he matured.

The big milestone came in 2011 when Noble's Promise won the Aristides Breeders Cup Stakes at Churchill Downs, a win that pushed his career earnings past one million dollars. He kept racing through 2012 and finished his career with a record built on toughness and class. Noble's Promise is remembered as a Grade 1 winning two year old and a hard knocking veteran who carried his small connections to the bright lights of Keeneland and the Breeders Cup.
