Love Me Only is a beautifully bred mare best known for her royal pedigree and her place in one of the great modern broodmare families. She was foaled in 2003. Her sire was the legendary European stallion Sadler's Wells, the leading sire of his generation, and her dam was the great American mare Mariah's Storm, a multiple stakes winner who became one of the most influential broodmares of the 20th century. Mariah's Storm was also the dam of the world champion Giant's Causeway, making Love Me Only a half sister to one of the most influential sires in modern racing.
Love Me Only had a quiet racing career compared to her famous brother, but her real value was always going to be as a broodmare. Her pedigree was so deep and so commercial that she was destined for a life as a producer of top class runners. She passed through the sales ring at the 2011 Keeneland November breeding stock sale and was purchased for 2.1 million dollars by Summer Wind Farm, while she was in foal to the unbeaten European champion Sea The Stars.
The result of that breeding was Storm the Stars, who lived up to his royal pedigree on the racetrack. Storm the Stars won the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York and ran third in the Group 1 Epsom Derby, placing in multiple top European classics. He gave Love Me Only her first major black type producer and confirmed her as a top broodmare of her time.
She continued to produce foals at Summer Wind Farm, often by the world's best stallions, and her offspring have carried the famous Mariah's Storm family forward into a new generation. Love Me Only is remembered as a true blue blood of the breed, a half sister to Giant's Causeway who became a producer in her own right and added another chapter to one of the greatest families in modern thoroughbred history.
