Post Career: In March 2001 she was retired to serve as a broodmare at her owner's farm in Paris, Kentucky. She

Chilukki died on May 7, 2007 at the Hagyard Equine Medical Institute near Lexington, Kentucky following complications after giving birth to a foal by the 2004 World Champion runner Ghostzapper.[4] She was buried in her entirety in Stonerside Farm's equine cemetery.

Chilukki was one of the brightest fillies of the late 1990s, a brilliant two year old champion whose winning streak was finally stopped by one of the bigger upsets in Breeders' Cup history. She was a bay filly born in 1997 in Kentucky. Her sire was Cherokee Run, the 1994 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner who became a useful stallion at Dell Ridge Farm. Her dam was Song of Syria, a mare by the Hall of Famer Damascus, the 1967 Horse of the Year. She was bought by Bob McNair, the founder of the Houston Texans NFL franchise, and his Stonerside Stable at the Fasig Tipton Florida juvenile sale in 1999. She was sent to Hall of Famer Bob Baffert to train, and almost immediately she became one of the talked about fillies in the country.

Her two year old season in 1999 was a near perfect run. She won her debut at Hollywood Park, then traveled across the country and set a Churchill Downs track record for four and a half furlongs in only her second start. She kept winning, taking the Hollywood Starlet Stakes and the Frizette Stakes, both Grade 1 races for juvenile fillies. She entered the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Gulfstream Park undefeated and as the heavy favorite. The race did not go her way. She got bumped early, was caught wide on the turn, and could only manage second behind a 33 to 1 long shot named Cash Run. Even with that one defeat, she had done enough to be named the 1999 Eclipse Award winner as Champion Two Year Old Filly, an unusual honor for a horse who had lost the Breeders' Cup.

Her three and four year old seasons were filled with more big efforts. She won the Churchill Downs Distaff Handicap at age three with another track record, and in fact that race was later renamed the Chilukki Stakes in her honor, a high tribute that very few horses receive. She added the El Encino Stakes at Santa Anita as a four year old in early 2001 before being retired soon after to Stonerside Stable's farm in Paris, Kentucky. As a broodmare she produced a few useful runners, but her own life ended too early. Chilukki died in May of 2007 at the Hagyard Equine Medical Institute from complications after giving birth to a foal by Ghostzapper. She was only ten years old. Her racing record stands as a reminder of how brilliant she was, and the Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs ensures her name continues to come up every fall on the autumn racing calendar.
